Before Fame

She was a student at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music where she was taught by Liszt pupil Arpad Szendy.

Trivia

She was known to give copious notes to her students, writing "bold directions in red crayon, right across the page, in huge letters, gratuitous slashes," according to one student.

Family Life

She married her colleague, Hungarian pianist Louis Kentner. She was considered by some to possess the greater talent. He left her in 1945.

Associated With

She served as musical advisor for several films, including 1951's Murder in the Cathedral, which was an adaptation of a verse drama by poet T.S. Eliot.
