Prolific B-movie director who was credited with more than 250 films, sometimes working on as many as 20 at a time for PRC Pictures.

Before Fame

He joined PRC in 1939 and was paid only $500 per picture, which meant he had to turn out his works at a very accelerated pace: about a week of shooting per movie.

Trivia

His films often showed signs of rushed production, but several - like the sci-fi story Lost Continent and the crime drama Western Pacific - were considered to be quite well done.

Family Life

His brother Sigmund Neufield was the head of PRC pictures, where Sam devised pseudonyms to keep the audience unaware of the number of films he was directing.

Associated With

His final productions included work on a TV series, Hawkeye and the Last of the Mohicans, starring Lon Chaney Jr.
