English musician best known as the bassist for the seminal punk rock band The Clash. The band released hit songs such as Should I Stay or Should I Go, I Fought the Law, and Train in Vain.

Before Fame

He was an aspiring artist and attended the Byam Shaw School of Art before being invited to join The Clash.

Trivia

He has also been a serious painter, hosting gallery shows and selling his work for as much as £23,500.

His mother, Elaine, was a librarian.
