Marc Brown

About

Children's author and illustrator of the popular Arthur series. He published his first Arthur book, Arthur's Nose, in 1976.

Before Fame

He studied graphic design at the Cleveland Institute of Art. Later, he worked several odd jobs, including cook, truck driver, and teacher.

Trivia

He earned a Daytime Emmy Award for the television series adaptation of the Arthur books.

Family Life

He married Laurie Krasny Brown, with whom he had two sons (Tolon Adam and Tucker Eliot) and a daughter (Eliza Morgan). He developed the Arthur character while telling bedtime stories to one of his sons.

Associated With

He created a successful illustrated children's book series, as did author/artist Richard Scarry.
