Mexican singer who became one of the most notable performers in the ranchero and corrido genres. She was one of the most popular Mexican folk music artists of the 1960s. In 1963, she won the Macuilxóchitl Award for Revelation Songwriter. 

Before Fame

She began her singing career after signing with Columbia Records in 1962. 

Trivia

She won the Folklore Revelation Trophy in 1963. She was also an actress and gained over 20 film roles throughout her career. 

Family Life

Her father, Santiago Serrano Ruiz, was an author, poet, and politician. Her mother, María Castro Domínguez, was a local aristocrat.
