About

Famous as the security guard who noticed unusual, break-in-like activity at Washington, D.C.'s Watergate office building, Wills spurred investigation into the Nixon presidency-ending event that came to be known as the Watergate Scandal.

Before Fame

Before becoming a security guard, he left high school to work a heavy machinery job in Michigan and went on to work for the Ford company in Detroit.

Trivia

He appeared as himself in the movie adaptation of the Watergate-themed book All the President's Men.

Family Life

A native of Savannah, Georgia, he grew up primarily in the care of his mother Margie. He lived his later years in poverty in North Augusta, South Carolina and Augusta, Georgia, and died of brain cancer in his early fifties.

Associated With

President Richard Nixon ultimately resigned from office as a direct result of the illegal activities Wills uncovered.
