In December 2024, after video emerged of Firuza Hafizova celebrating her birthday with friends, song and dance, she was fined $500 in court for violating the country's law regulating private functions. This is not the first time she has faced harsh public scrutiny; in February 2024, a news channel broadcaster lambasted pop music performers for failing to preserve traditional Tajik values by dressing too skimpily. Although the anchor didn't mention her by name, the remarks were accompanied by footage of her music videos.
