American mixed martial arts fighter who is best known for being the first open transgender athlete in MMA history. 

Before Fame

She joined the US Navy at the age of 19. After leaving the Navy, she enrolled in the University of Toledo. She later dropped out and drove a truck to save money for her gender reassignment surgery. She made her debut in May of 2012. 

Trivia

In 2014, she was inducted into the National Gay and Lesbian Sports Hall of Fame. 

Family Life

She was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio. She is also known for having a daughter at the age of 19. 

Associated With

She created a vast controversy becoming the first transgender woman to fight other women in the UFC. Her situation was commented on by a variety of UFC and MMA public figures including Dana White and Joe Rogan.
