Charles Addams

About

Creator of The Addams Family, a popular cartoon that spawned movies, musicals, and television shows. In 1961, he received an Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America. His characters tended to contain elements of dark humor. 

Before Fame

He was distantly related to United States Presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams. 

Trivia

He drew and created nearly 1,500 cartoons throughout his lengthy career. In Philadelphia, he was honored with The Charles Addams Fine Arts Hall.

Family Life

He married Sally Smith, who was the sister of his brother-in-law.
