Painter and cartoonist who created Dennis the Menace. In 1953, he won the Reuben Award. Early in his career, he worked on Fantasia and Bambi for Walt Disney.

Before Fame

He dropped out of the University of Washington after one year and hitchhiked to California, hoping to work for Disney.

Trivia

His most famous work, Dennis the Menace, was distributed in over 1000 magazines worldwide and in 19 languages.

Family Life

He married Rolande Praepost in 1969.
