He earned his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and began his business career with Procter & Gamble in 1971.

He oversaw the sale of the telecommunications company Hutchison Essar Ltd. to Vodafone in a deal worth $19 million, the biggest corporate takeover in Indian history.

Family Life

His father was Amalananda Ghosh, an archaeologist who once served as Director General of the Archaeological Survey of India.
