Alfred Bester

An American science fiction writer best remembered for his novel, The Demolished Man, he was the recipient of the inaugural Hugo Award in 1953. He was inducted into the Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame in 2001.

He worked in public relations before turning to fiction writing. He published his famous first novel, The Demolished Man, in 1953.
