Before Fame

He got his start in the industry after studying geology at Texas A&M University. He'd submit spec scripts to different studios.

Trivia

He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium in 1996 for Apollo 13.

Family Life

He was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan and later resided in Houston, Texas. He died of lung cancer.
