Zanib Mian

About

Children's author whose books are known for their diverse characters from all minorities and backgrounds. She wrote the Planet Omar series and other titles including How to Pray and My Dad's Beard. Her books have been translated into Arabic, Danish, Dutch, German, Italian, and Turkish. She launched Muslim Children's Books, a company that publishes Islamic novels that speak to children.

Before Fame

She studied molecular cell biology at University College in London. She taught science in English secondary schools. 

Trivia

In 2018, she won the Little Rebels Award for her self-published middle grade book The Muslims. Her books have featured on BBC's Cbeebies Bedtime Stories. In September 2021, Lime Pictures announced a television option deal with Hachette Children's Group for Planet Omar.

Family Life

She has Pakistani heritage. She was born and raised in London. She has two sons.
