Yoji Kuri

Japanese cartoonist and filmmaker known for his animated short films, such as Stamp Fantasy, Love of Kemeko, and The Midnight Parasites. His art is characterized by its naïve style and surrealism, and his stories are marked by their black humor. He was a central figure in the Animation Association of Three collective.

He illustrated children's books at the start of his career.

Trivia

His 1972 film, The Midnight Parasites, was inspired by the work of Dutch painter Hieronymus Bosch. He has taught at Laputa Art Animation School. He is known in Japan for his comics. Throughout his career, he has made forty short films.

He was born in Sabae, Japan.

Associated With

He has collaborated with Yoko Ono, incorporating her compositions into several of his animated short films, notably AOS (1964) and Yabunirami-No-Concert (1966).
