William Shawcross

About

A British writer and political commentator, he published a biography of The Queen Mother in 2009. His earlier work, Sideshow: Kissinger, Nixon and the Destruction of Cambodia (1979), received a Pulitzer Prize nomination.

Before Fame

After graduating from University College, Oxford and St. Martin's Art School, he became a political journalist for The Sunday Times. He later wrote articles for The Washington Post, Newsweek, and Time, among other publications.

Trivia

He served as Chairman of the Charity Commission for England and Wales.

Family Life

His first marriage was to author Marina Werner. He was married two more times and fathered several children, including an artist son named Conrad and a political adviser daughter named Eleanor.

He became a member of the Royal Victorian Order, as did Prince Edward .
