William Dufty

About

An American writer and ghostwriter, he is known for such works as Lady Sings the Blues (1956) and Sugar Blues (1975). The latter work was made into a 1972 film starring Diana Ross.

Before Fame

He fought during World War II and subsequently became a columnist for the New York Post.

Trivia

He was contracted as a ghostwriter for Billie Holiday's autobiography, Lady Sings the Blues.

Family Life

He was married to Gloria Swanson, who received help from him while writing her autobiography.
