William Cohen

Republican politician who served Maine in the Senate from 1979 to 1997. He also represented Maine's 2nd district in the House from 1973 to 1979.

Before Fame

He played basketball in high school and college and was named to the Maine all-state high school and college team.

Trivia

While a member of the House he was one of the first republicans to break from his party and vote for the impeachment of Richard Nixon after the watergate scandal.

He married writer Janet Langhart in 1996.
