Former Paralympic swimmer that was born blind. Having won at least 55 medals throughout her Paralympic career, she has been recognized as the most successful athlete in the history of the Paralympic Games. She was inducted into the Paralympic Hall of Fame in 2012.

She began participating in the Paralympics in 1980.

Trivia

While participating at her first career Paralympics event in 1980, she won seven gold medals.
