Japanese pop singer, vocalist, musician, composer, entertainer, artist, performer, and songwriter who is known for her musical style blending Western pop music with traditional Japanese sounds which resulted in her producing 9 different solo albums.

Before Fame

She began writing music when she was 19 years old. She briefly joined the Japanese band Prism in the year 1979. She made her singing debut with the single "Kanashiki Vaudevillian" (1981).

Trivia

She was awarded the Japanese Academy Award for Best Original Soundtrack for the movie Sweet Home (1990). She is a pet rabbit owner. Some of her best known songs are "Midnight Pretenders" (1983), "I'm in Love" (1984), "Lonely Woman" (1984), and "Synthesizer Fantasy" (1992).

Family Life

She was born and raised in Hirosaki, Aomori, Japan.
