Thomas Mifflin

About

The first Governor of Pennsylvania from 1790 to 1799 who was also President of the Continental Congress and a delegate to the Constitutional Convention of 1787.

Before Fame

He was a member of the Pennsylvania Provincial Assembly before the Revolutionary War broke out.

Trivia

He served in the American Revolution as a Quartermaster General, which meant he was in charge of supplies for the whole army.

Family Life

He married his cousin, Sarah Morris, in 1765.

As President of the Continental Congress he accepted the commission of General George Washington.
