Thomas Culpeper

About

English courtier who was a favorite attendant and close friend of King Henry VIII. He became infamous for his alleged affair with Queen Catherine Howard and was ultimately executed for treason and adultery in 1541. 

Before Fame

Throughout his early life, he and his eldest brother, who was also named Thomas, became known for collecting various items of value requested by the royal family. In 1538, he and Richard Cromwell worked together to obtain a hawk for King Henry VIII.

Trivia

Throughout his royal service, he was honored with multiple gifts including the office of keeper of the manor at Penshurst Palace as well as property in several locations.

Family Life

He and his two brothers were born to Alexander Culpeper of Bedgebury in Kent, and his second wife, Constance Harper.
