Before Fame

She aspired to be a singer and theatre actress at a young age. She made appearances as such on The Dean Martin Show and Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour during the late 1960s.

Trivia

In 2002, her book "The Power of a Praying Wife" remained a Christian Booksellers Association best-seller for 27 consecutive weeks, a then-industry record. In 2005, she released a collection of hymns called The Prayer That Changes Everything.

She and her husband Michael have been married more than 40 years and share 2 children.
