Stefano Denswil

About

Professional soccer player most widely renowned for playing as a center-back for Trabzonspor Kulübü of the Turkish Süper Lig. He previously played for clubs like Club Brugge of the Belgian Pro League and Bologna FC 1909 of Italy's Serie A. He began his international career in 2007, representing his home country of the Netherlands in youth championships every year until 2013. In 2023, he changed sporting nationalities and began playing for Suriname's national team.  

Before Fame

He started his career in soccer with the small-scale amateur club Hellas Sport in Zaandam. In 2001, he was recruited to join Ajax Youth Academy. During his youth career, he helped Ajax win the Nike Eredivisie league title and make it to the finals of the Next Gen Series. He was promoted to 1st team squad for the 2012-13 season and he made his senior career debut in a match against ONS Sneek for the KNVB Cup.

Trivia

He is also an active kickboxer and practices the martial art on a standard basis in order to condition his footwork and prevent injury. During his time with Club Brugge, he helped the squad win three Belgian Pro League Championships, a Belgian Cup, and two Belgian Super Cups.

Family Life

Despite having been born in the Netherlands, his parents are both Surinamese. He has therefore qualified to play internationally for both the Netherlands and Suriname.
