Egyptian political activist who, in October 2013, was arrested by Egyptian authorities for his outspoken advocacy of atheism, science and free speech. He was sentenced to one year in prison but immediately went into hiding before he could be imprisoned.

He was a student at Suez Canal University in Ismailia, Egypt at the time of his arrest.

Trivia

Despite being on the run from the law, he has continued to post YouTube videos promoting atheistic and anti-authoritarian ideas.

Family Life

He lost contact with his family after being sentenced.

A Change.org petition to have him absolved of criminal charges was delivered to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
