Before Fame

He grew up in Brooklyn, New York. He attended Vassar College, then entered into a graduate film program at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.

Family Life

He was born in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, and grew up mostly in Bedford-Stuyvesant. Both of his parents were public schoolteachers.
