Saya Sakakibara

Australian cyclist who has competed in BMX Supercross events. She has also represented Australia at the World Championship Level. She was selected for the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games as part of the Australian team. 

Before Fame

She started BMX racing at the age of four after watching her older brother compete at events. After her family moved to Sydney in 2007, she joined the South Illawarra BMX Club. 

Trivia

She won a silver medal in the Junior Elite BMX Supercross at the 2017 World Championships. She was awarded AusCycling's Female BMX Racing Rider of the Year in 2020. 

Family Life

She has been in a relationship with Romain Mahieu, who won the 2023 BMX World Championships in Glasgow.
