The daughter of Elizabeth and John Solart, she was raised in the town of Wenham, Massachusetts. Following the death of her first husband, Daniel Poole, she married William Good and bore daughters named Dorothy and Mercy.

She and Rebecca Nurse were both victims of the Salem Witch Trials. Both are also characters in Arthur Miller's 1953 play The Crucible.
