Sam Savage

About

South Carolina-born fiction writer and poet who is known for works such as The Cry of the Sloth, Glass, and Firmin: Adventures of a Metropolitan Lowlife. His debut novel, The Criminal Life of Effie O., was written entirely in verse.

Before Fame

In 1968, he obtained his B.A. from Yale University. He later returned to Yale to become a doctoral student in philosophy.

Trivia

He was selected in 2006 for a Barnes & Noble Great New Writers honor.

Family Life

He had two children with Nora Manheim. Manheim's father, Ralp Manheim, famously translated Mein Kampf.

Associated With

Both he and architect Robert Stern studied at Yale University.
