Political journalist and profiler who is largely known for his independent and objective writing style. He has served as the Washington, D.C. correspondent for the New Yorker magazine, where he has gained renown for his "Letter to Washington" column.

Before Fame

He earned his dual Bachelor of Arts degree in English and mass communications from the University of California, Berkeley in 1997. He began his journalism career at the Center for Investigative Reporting.

Trivia

He has won numerous awards for his writings on the Barack Obama presidency, including the 2011 National Press Club's Hood Award for Diplomatic Correspondence. He subsequently won the Aldo Beckman Memorial Award from the White House Correspondents' Association for his coverage of Obama's presidency and 2012 re-election campaign.

He and his wife Christina Irene Gillespie have lived together in Washington, D.C.
