Ruth Lockwood

Actress, entertainer, artist, performer, and comedian who appeared in several popular and well-known films in the 1930s. For example, she was in 1937's Oh, Say Can You Hear?, 1938's Cupid Takes a Holiday, and 1938's Sing for Sweetie.

Before Fame

She starred in Gus Edwards' Song Revues in the early 1900s.

Trivia

In the 1920s, she toured the United States in the original production of the operetta The Student Prince, playing Gretchen. In both the 1920s and 1930s, she and her husband toured the United States with their vaudeville show titled Leavitt and Lockwood. They also performed at the Palace Theatre in New York City.

Family Life

She married Douglas Leavitt. She had a son named James. She shares a grave with her granddaughters Maryl Lois Leavitt and Virginia Leavitt.
