Before Fame

He began drawing when he was four years old. He graduated from University of California, Berkeley in 1904 with a degree in Engineering.

Trivia

He was born in San Francisco and founded the National Cartoonists Society. His first hit cartoon series was a comic strip called, "Foolish Questions" in 1908.

Family Life

He married Irma Seeman in 1916; the couple had two sons.
