Ron Southern

About

Canadian entrepreneur who founded ATCO Ltd. and also opened an equestrian facility called Spruce Meadows. He held additional executive positions in several other large companies, including Canadian Airlines and the Canadian Chrysler Corporation.

Before Fame

In 1947, he and his father started the Alberta Trailer Hire Company, a business that eventually developed into ATCO.

Trivia

He earned both Order of Canada and Order of the British Empire honors.

Family Life

He co-founded Spruce Meadows with his wife, Margaret Southern. In 2007, he made his daughter, Nancy, Chief Executive Officer of ATCO.
