French academic scholar whose articles created much controversy for arguing that gas chambers did not exterminate Jews during WWII and that The Diary of Anne Frank and the accounts of Elle Wiesel are inauthentic.

Before Fame

He worked as a professor of French literature at the University of Lyon from 1973 until 1990.

Trivia

He was fined after the Gayssot Act, which prosecutes those who deny the Holocaust, was passed in 1990 and fired from his teaching position the following year.

Family Life

He was raised in Shepperton, Surrey and named after his father.
