Self-taught guitarist and composer whose specialties include English folk music, Arabic music, and jazz. He released his only studio album to date in 2010; it wad called Lost Places.

Before Fame

He began playing both the electric and acoustic guitars when he was just eleven years old, and he became active in the improvisational music and jazz scenes in London when he was in his late teens.

Trivia

His 1993 guitar-playing manual, The Complete Guitarist, sold more than a million copies and became popular around the world.

Family Life

He was born in Pembury, Kent, England, and he later moved to London to pursue a career in music.

He organized and catalogued musician Eric Clapton's guitars for a 1999 sale.
