American sportscaster notable for becoming the first full-time female network sportscaster in American history when she began working for ESPN in 1981. She specialized in golf coverage, authoring books like 1992's The Illustrated History of Women's Golf and receiving the Golf Writers Association of America's William D. Richardson Award.

Before Fame

She was a two-time Florida High School Athletic Association champion in golf and won the Florida East Coast Golf Tournament in 1965.

During her time as a weather presenter at WAVY-TV in Portsmouth, Virginia, she became so popular that the city renamed a street in her honor.
