His first film appearance was in Koncert in 1954.

In a bizarre turn of events, he was elected to Parliament in Croatia in 1992.

Family Life

His stepfather, who helped raise him, was the noted pianist and conductor Mladen Basic.

Both he and Peter Lorre were regarded as two of the best character actors of their generation.
