Quitéria Chagas

About

Brazilian performing artist and model who is widely recognized as one of the icons of the Rio Carnival for her participation in the parade of samba schools. She appeared on the TV Globo soap opera O Clone as well as the miniseries JK and the 2006 telenovela Páginas da Vida. She also served as the stage assistant on Domingo Legal on the SBT Network and appeared in the RecordTV reality show Made in Japan in 2020.

Before Fame

She began performing at the Marquês de Sapucaí Sambadrome in 1999 before being declared as the "Mulata Globeleza" in the Rede Globo carnival vignettes. She was later announced as a new muse of the carnival in Rio de Janeiro in 2003.

Trivia

She has earned numerous accolades throughout her career including the Tamborim de Ouro in 2007. In 2013, she also earned an Apotheosis Trophy and a Jorge Lafond Trophy. Outside of her performing arts career, she also holds a degree in psychology and has worked as a doula.

Family Life

She and her late husband Francesco Locati, who passed away from cancer in 2023, welcomed their daughter Elena in 2015.

In 2009, she was photographed as the late, celebrated singer, dancer, and actress Carmen Miranda for a photo shoot by Yuri Graneiro in the Carmen Miranda Museum.
