At least 16 teenagers in Russia died by suicide after playing Blue Whale. The game went viral on social media, with participants in the United States, the United Kingdom, and South America. He was sentenced to prison from 2017-2020 for creating the game.

Trivia

He received fan mail while in prison from devoted followers. He said he created the game to remove biological waste from society. He was rumored to have also been behind the Momo challenge, another diabolical game aimed at children.
