Before Fame

He attended Oxford University and became a foreign correspondent for The Times in Constantinople (present day Istanbul).

Trivia

He was also a practitioner of entomology, and published numerous works on insects and butterflies.

Family Life

His father, Alfred Perceval Graves, was also a writer, as was his younger brother, Robert Graves.

He served alongside T.E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia) in the British Army.
