Peter Gee

About

Pop artist whose colorful works were exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and at MOMA in New York. He worked with silkscreens throughout much of his career, using them to experiment with color theory.

Before Fame

He studied at Central Saint Martins School in London and for a while lived in Paris where he had his earliest exhibitions.

Trivia

His most famous silkscreens were of New York City's Puck Building, Martin Luther King Jr., Betsy Johnson's lips, and Penelope Tree.

Family Life

His eldest son Brandon was born to him and his first wife Elsie before the couple divorced in 1971. He had two children with his second wife, antique dealer Olga Opsahl Gee.

Associated With

His works appeared alongside those of Andy Warhol in a 1986 exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
