Peggy Parish

About

Famous for her Amelia Bedelia children's book series, she also penned the Liza, Bill & Jed mysteries, as well as several non-series works for children.

Before Fame

She received a bachelor's degree in English from the University of South Carolina. Some years later, she published her first children's work, Littlest Raccoon.

Trivia

Parish's most famous character, Amelia Bedelia, appeals to children not only because of her penchant for cooking unique and delicious meals, but also because of her child-like, literal way of viewing the world.

Family Life

Following Parish's sudden death in the late 1980s, her nephew, Herman Parish, continued her Amelia Bedelia series of books.
