Paul Chelimo

About

Runner and Olympic athlete. He is a 2016 Olympic silver medalist and a 2020 Olympic bronze medalist in the 5000 meters. On his paul_chelimo Instagram page, he has 160,000 followers who can see his training routines, races, and things about his life as an athlete. 

Before Fame

He moved to the United States in 2010 to train and run at Shorter College on a scholarship. He was also able to become a US citizen by a program through the United States Army. 

Trivia

During the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, he was briefly disqualified for stepping on the inside lane line during a race. His silver medal was later reinstated after an appeal.

Family Life

He is from Kenya. His parents are Gabriel Suter and Roselyne Cheruiyot. He grew up with four siblings, Moses Kiptoo, Denis, Alberto, and Emmanuela. 

Associated With

As a decorated Olympian, he is in good company with other runners of his caliber like Usain Bolt and Carl Lewis. He hopes to compete in a third Olympics in the future.
