Afro-pop and house singer and songwriter who earned representation from the Ogopa Butterfly music label. Her career as a solo artist commenced with the release of her debut single, "Ethimbo." She is also known for tracks including "Shawty" and "Waatagwan."

Before Fame

She first rose to fame as a member of the girl duo Gal Level. As part of the duo, she earned honors from the Sanlam-NBC Music Awards as well as the Namibian Music Awards.

Trivia

In 2014, she became the first Namibian music artist to earn an MTV Africa Music Award (MAMA) nomination when the video for her single "Ethimbo" was nominated in the Video Battles category. She has also earned numerous other accolades including Best Female Artist and Best Afro-Pop from the NAMAS in 2015.

Family Life

Her birth name is Daphne Willibard. She adopted the stage name "Oteya," which translates to "she's coming." She welcomed a daughter named Malaika in 2020.
