Nguyen Tan Dung

About

Communist Party politician and, beginning in 2006, eighth Prime Minister of Vietnam. Before beginning his political career, he served in both the Cambodian-Vietnamese War and the Vietnam War.

Before Fame

At the age of twelve, he volunteered to assist the Viet Cong forces in nursing and communications capacities. Later, he participated in combat and was wounded several times.

Trivia

He headed the State Bank of Vietnam in the late 1990s.

Family Life

He was born in the southern Vietnamese city of Ca Mau. He later married Tran Thanh Kiem.

Associated With

He and Ho Chi Minh were both Prime Ministers of Vietnam.
