Myles Mace

About

Longtime Harvard Business School professor who was one of the founders of the field of entrepreneurship. He published his revolutionary book Directors: Myth and Reality in 1971 after conducting in-depth interviews with over 100 chief executive officers and board members.

Before Fame

His doctoral research at Harvard focused the governorship of small corporations, and led to his seminal work on corporate directorship.

Trivia

His course, The Management of New Enterprises, created just after WW II, was one of the first to consider the formation and management of business from an academic perspective.

Family Life

He was born in Montevideo, Minnesota, and had two sons with his wife Adelaide Rowley.

Associated With

Many business leaders, like Ratan Tata, the founder of India's Tata Corp., went through the Harvard Business School program that included his course.
