Moti Tikaram

About

First local person appointed to the Supreme Court of Fiji as a judge. He was also a football administrator and the first ombudsman of independent Fiji.

Before Fame

He made the Fiji Football Association multi-racial while serving as president from 1959 until 1960.

Trivia

His appointment as Fiji's first ombudsman came in 1972; he retired in 1987, when he was the world's longest-serving national ombudsman.

Family Life

His great-nephew was actor Ramon Tikaram and his great-niece was singer-songwriter Tanita Tikaram.

Associated With

He and Fiji-born Jimmy Snuka were contemporaries, although it's doubtful their paths ever crossed.
