Raised in a musically inclined family, she was a jazz artist as well as actress. Some of her notable film roles include Sybil Meriden in Everything I Have is Yours and Janet Boothe in Affair with a Stranger.

Before Fame

She started as a singer for a radio show titled Gloom Dodgers and upon working for some other shows, she was deemed America's Singing Sweetheart.

Trivia

She made an appearance on the very first Ed Sullivan Show.

Family Life

She was married to Bob Thiele for only about a year and a half. She later married Jennings Lang in 1956 and was with him until he passed in 1996.

She appeared in the film Zero to Sixty, starring Darren McGavin.
