Initially, he began his youth soccer career with US Chantilly. He also played with the Paris Saint-Germain FC and Everton FC youth ranks.

He was just 16 years old when he made his professional club debut with Angers SCO. At the time, he was one of the youngest club players in the French Ligue 1.

Although he was born in Stains, France, he grew up living with his family in the London, England area. He was born of Moroccan and Ivorian descent.
