Growing up, he starred at Northwest Catholic High School, earning a trip to the 2008 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

He spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints, but didn't make the active roster of either team.

Hi brother Jake played tight end at Notre Dame and he has a sister named Sydney. His mother's name is Christine.
